Munaf Patel vs Amit Mishra, IPL 2011


Mumbai Indians bowler Munaf Patel got into a strong altercation with Deccan Chargers batsmen Amit Mishra when both the teams played at Wankhede. The last over of the match was the main highlight of the brawl. Munaf got hit for a six on the first ball of the last over. And then on the third ball, he got smashed for a four on which he lost his cool and went down to melee with Amit Mishra, the batsmen. The two ended up in some verbal shouts. The fifth delivery saw the two players almost throwing blows at each other. Munaf Patel also did threaten Amit Mishra to throw the ball towards him. The Umpires and Sachin Tendulkar finally resolved the matter.

Kieron Pollard vs Mitchell Starc, IPL 2014


This is the most recent brawl in the IPL history. It happened on 6th May 2014 when Mumbai Indians were playing against Royal Challengers Bangalore in Wankhede. Mitchell Starc bowled a short pitched delivery to Kieron Pollard and the both exchanged some angry words. Pollard signaled Starc to go and bowl. Starc came in to bowl his next delivery on which Pollard pulled out and backed off to play the delivery. But the Aussie deliberately bowled in the direction of Pollard’s body to which the West Indian reacted by throwing his bat in the bowler’s direction. The Umpire along with Virat Kohli and Chris Gayle came to settle things down.

Harbhajan Singh vs S. Sreesanth, IPL 2008


The Harbhajan and Sreesanth spat is the most widely discussed and the oldest incident in the IPL history. It is also one of the incidents in the history of the game where the reputation of the game was polluted. As reported, the Mumbai Indians spinner Harbhajan Singh in a widespread anger slapped the Kings XI Punjab pacer S.Sreesanth. Sreesanth made some jovial statement at Harbhajan’s teams defeat and Harbhajan in the state of agony hit Sreesanth hard. Although, there is no such tape that show Harbhajan slapping Sreesanth but the only evidence left was Sreesanth’s crying face which was displayed all over world. Later, the dispute got solved by Harbhajan apologizing to Sreesanth.

Kieron Pollard came down with Shane Watson on a perplexed dispute. As soon as Shane Watson came down to bat, Kieron Pollard mockingly laughed in Shane Watson’s ears and made him feel insulted. Watson did not get the real motive of Pollard’s intentional act and he felt disturbed. Very soon both were on some extremely rude and undesirable verbal fight which was in controversies for quite a long time. Umpires and Captain Rohit Sharma settled things down.
